5+ Baby Crochet Headband Patterns for Beginners
One of the many benefits of having a creative hobby is that we are able to create things for our littles – like headbands, blankets, scarves, and sometimes even entire outfits. Crochet is one of those hobbies that allows you to create nearly anything, in this case, we’re utilizing baby crochet headband patterns to make something cute and memorable for our babies!
Luckily, headbands are rather easy to create so you don’t need to be a crochet pro to do most of them. I thought a nice mix of classic headbands and modern headbands and bows would be perfect to showcase for you to try. I won’t lie, I’m guilty of putting the chunky bows on my baby girl’s head! No shame, she’s adorable.

The Cutest Baby Crochet Headband Patterns to Try Today
Creative hobbies are some of the best to have when your kids are little, especially when you’re able to create little things like headbands for them to use! These headbands are some of the cutest I could find and have a nice variety to allow anyone with any style to tackle a DIY crochet headband for their baby. Now, while all of these patterns are technically meant for beginners, they do require different materials and stitches – so just keep it in mind when looking through!
Most of the patterns use very similar – if not the same – yarn weight and crochet hooks, so you can try more than one pattern without stressing about materials.
Now, let’s look at some of the cutest and easiest baby crochet headband patterns for beginners:
#1. Summer Breeze Cotton Crochet Hairband Pattern by Pretty Darn Adorable

Starting the list with something cute and easy, this Summer Breeze Cotton Crochet Hairband Pattern by Pretty Darn Adorable is a great headband to tackle for both beginner and expert crocheters. It’s an adorable option and would look great for any newborn or baby photos you decide to do! Plus, it’s adjustable, so you’ll get a lot of wear out of just one headband.
This headband pattern is suitable for babies, toddlers, children, and women. You will need a tapestry needle, stitch markers, scissors, and 10-12 grams of worsted-weight yarn. The shop doesn’t specify the exact skills needed but explains that they have an in-depth video tutorial that will teach you everything you need to know to make a flawless headband!
#2. Old Rose Baby Headband Crochet Pattern by Mon Petit Violon

A completely different vibe from the first one on the list, this crochet headband is exactly what I pictured used in baby photos! And it’s actually very similar to the one used in baby photos for my first little girl. This Old Rose Baby Headband Crochet Pattern by Mon Petit Violon is a headband to do for a beginner who wants to try learning to crochet flowers or wants something different than a traditional bow or wrap headband.
This is an easy pattern! You will need a small amount of yarn in two colors – the creator used sport weight or FINE 2 yarn – but you can use pretty much any yarn. Just keep in mind that thicker yarn will make a bigger headband. You will also need a crochet hook 3.25 mm or one that feels comfortable with the yarn you are using. Finally, you’ll need a thread and needle. As for stitches, you’ll need to know how to do a chain stitch, double crochet, treble crochet, single crochet, and slip stitch.
#3. Bow Crochet Baby Headband Pattern by Winding Road Crochet

Of course I couldn’t not include a bow-style headband crochet pattern, especially when these are so cute! This Bow Crochet Baby Headband Pattern by Winding Road Crochet is one of my absolute favorites and just looks so soft and perfect for your little one! This is another easy level crochet pattern so it’s perfect for beginners – plus it comes in all sizes, from newborn baby head size to toddler head size!
To complete this pattern you will need a medium/worsted weight (size 4) yarn, 5 mm crochet hook, scissors, and a yarn needle. You will need to know chain, yarn over slip stitch (although they do cover this one in the instructions), slip stitch, and the basic sewing skills.
#4. The Cordelia Headband by Tiny Couch Crochet

Now, I might have claimed that one of the other headbands held the #1 spot in my heart, but this one is the TRUE winner. I kept my little girls in this style of headband from newborn to toddler – they were just perfect for all our outfits! This The Cordelia Headband by Tiny Couch Crochet is one of the easier patterns to try and it’s a super quick project to tackle as a crochet beginner. Plus, you can choose to keep the stripe, or do it all in one solid color!
This pattern requires a G 4.0 mm crochet hook, J 6.0 mm crochet hook, 2 skeins of bernat softee cotton yarn or similar, and scissors! When you get this pattern, you get it in multiple sizes including 0-3 month, 3-6 month, 6-12 month, 1-3 year, 3-12 year, and teen/adult S/M/L!
#5. Easy Twisted Chunky Headband for Babies, Toddlers, Children, & Adults by Pretty Darn Adorable

I’m a sucker for a good chunky headband and my own babies spent many winters in these! Of course, I didn’t quite have the skills or time to make it myself, so it was purchased through a small shop. But, since you’re here and looking through the list this is perfect for an easy DIY! This Easy Twisted Chunky Headband for Babies, Toddlers, Children, & Adults by Pretty Darn Adorable is, just as the shop name suggests, absolutely adorable.
This pattern comes in three sizes and you will need a 6.50 mm crochet hook, Bernat Roving #5 chunky weight yarn, tapestry needle, stitch markets, and scissors. This is a beginner level crochet pattern and you will need to know the chain stitch and single crochet!
#6. Colorful Crochet Velvet Twist Headbands by Daisy Farm Crafts

One of my absolute favorites and what I’ve made my own daughters – the Colorful Crochet Velvet Twist Headbands by Daisy Farm Crafts! And the best part? It’s free!
This pattern pretty much just used a double crochet to make up the headband, and she teaches you how to make it for your littles and for yourself if you want a matching set. And it’s made in baby velvet yarn, which is one of my personal favorites to work with (probably because it’s so soft)!
