Crochet is one of those hobbies that are on the top of the list – mainly because of the super adorable patterns they have for you to try. From mystical creatures to farm animals and everything in between, you can find a crochet pattern for it! But, instead of covering every creature you can think of, we’re gonna narrow it down to one today… aka we’re looking at duck crochet patterns for beginners!
While I do have a personal preference for mystical creatures and extinct animals – like dinosaurs – I also like tiny farm animals, like ducks. Just like my favorite dinosaur patterns, these ducks are dressed in the cutest outfits or are doing the funniest non-duck things!

Yep, they’re cute AND cuddly. The duck crochet patterns that make it on the list are the best of the best… or rather the cutest I could find. All are doable for beginners and most have step-by-step instructions for you to follow. And, if you don’t know what to do, the pattern creator typically has a how-to!
For most of these, you will need some very basic crochet skills. This typically includes knowing the main stitches like single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet, increase, and decrease. I’ll break down more in their description if it’s available!
Now, let’s look at these cute duck crochet patterns that I’ve found and determined to be my favorites of all time!
#1. Lemon Meringue Pie Duck by Stuffing Stuff
Kicking it off with the absolute cutest, this Lemon Meringue Pie Duck by Stuffing Stuff is technically just an add-on to their Percy the Duck crochet pattern – but I didn’t want to pass it up. I mean, who doesn’t want a duck that looks like a delicious little pie?
With 5 pages of instructions and over 25 step-by-step photos, it’s a tested, easy pattern meant for beginner and intermediate crocheters. You’ll need to know chain, single crochet, increase, invisible decrease, working in the round, and half double crochet. For this specific pattern, the gauge is unimportant.
#2. Set of 3 Patterns: Chick, Duckling, & Goose by Fairy Toys by Inna Chi
Spicing it up with a Set of 3 Patterns: Chick, Duckling, & Goose by Fairy Toys by Inna Chi, this pattern allows you to create your own baby rattle. I love that you get a final product that your baby will love and not just you!
You’ll get a full breakdown of how to make and crochet the rattles step-by-step. The final size is about 12 – 13 cm! The shop doesn’t share exactly which skills you’ll need to complete the pattern, but it says you need basic crochet skills.
#3. Cute Duck Pool Day Amigurumi Pattern by AlinettoysPattern
Another cutie, but this duckie is on its way to the pool! This Cute Duck Pool Day Amigurumi Pattern by AlinettoysPattern is the perfect duck pattern to tackle if you want something beyond the basic “rubber duck” style crochet amigurumi.
This duck pattern comes with a 15-page description with step-by-step photos of the entire process. The creator also includes a video on some of the main parts like head design, beak, the pattern on the swimsuit, and the lifebuoy. You’ll need to know the main stitches: single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet, increase, and decrease.
#4. Dylan the Duckie Crochet Pattern by The Crochet Code AU
One of the many animals the shop has patterns for, this Dylan the Duckie Crochet Pattern by The Crochet Code AU is a super cute rubber duckie amigurumi and is the perfect pattern to get creative with. Make ducks in any and all colors you like – think purples, blues, pinks, greens, and more!
To complete the pattern, you get a 15-page digital crochet pattern with photos in US terminology – English only. You get patterns for two options: handheld and giant plushie sizes. The giant plushie is around 21 cm tall, 20 cm wide, and 25 cm from front to back.
#5. Amigurumi Duckling Baby Security Blanket by Baby Joy By Nata
This might actually be my favorite because it would be perfect for my one-month-old to hold. This Amigurumi Duckling Baby Security Blanket by Baby Joy By Nata is a simple DIY pattern that requires a little stuffing, but you’ll get step-by-step instructions.
With the pattern, you’ll get the usual material list and instructions on completing the duck! The finished toy is about 9″ or 24 cm.
#6. Duck with a Bonnet Crochet Pattern by Kind Toys Pattern
I think this duck has a very vintage feel if you know what I mean… Like, it’s super cute, but I also feel like I would find it at my grandma’s house – which isn’t a bad thing. Either way, this Duck with a Bonnet Crochet Pattern by Kind Toys Pattern is a great beginner pattern for crocheters!
With this pattern, you’ll get an easy-to-follow pattern with a detailed description of how to create a cute duck along with a description of a duck bonnet. If you follow their material list, your finished duck with be around 14-15 centimeters or 5.51-5.91 inches.
#7. Duck with Ducklings Crochet Pattern by Doll Patterns Shop
This pattern was just too cute – I mean a mama with her ducklings! This Duck with Ducklings Crochet Pattern by Doll Patterns Shop is a great crochet pattern to tackle for mamas looking for a “family” duck pattern.
With this pattern, you get over 52 photos in the instructions. The wings and legs are attached with the help of thread fastening. The head is attached to the body using a cotter pin joint, this allows the duckling to turn the head in different directions. If desired, you can not use cotter pins but sew the head. The small duck will be around 8 cm and the big duckling is around 24 cm.
#8. The Little Duck Amigurumi Crochet Pattern by Toys Metlina Elena
I think I have a soft spot for ducks in hats… I’m not ashamed though! These ducks are adorable and this The Little Duck Amigurumi Crochet Pattern by Toys Metlina Elena is no exception. This would be a perfect project to just kill some time or keep busy with while you’re watching your kiddos’ soccer game or waiting for them to get out of their speech appointment (been there, done that).
This is a beginner-level pattern and will create a final duck that is around 6.2-6.6 inches tall. You get plenty of photos included in the pattern, but if you have any issues you can message the shop owner directly and she’ll help you!
#9. Easy Duck Crochet Pattern by Candy Yarn Shop
This duck right here is what inspired this entire list. It was just too cute to NOT share with everybody! This Easy Duck Crochet Pattern by Candy Yarn Shop is the perfect beginner-level duck for you to start your crochet journey with – or simply add to your list of projects!
This pattern has plenty of guidance in the pattern PDF to help you along and your finished duck toy should be around 23 cm in height. You’ll need to know how to crochet the magic ring, increase, decrease, single crochet, and slip stitch.
#10. Pocket Duckling Crochet Amigurumi Pattern by Sweet Softies Co.
I wanted to finish this list off with another favorite – Pocket Duckling Crochet Amigurumi Pattern by Sweet Softies Co! I think this is a great one to tackle because you can make your duck and then add it to your keychain to carry around with you afterward! Plus, you get all the different duck variations and not just the rubber duckie style.
This pattern does have a FREE option available on the shop’s personal website and even has an email subscription that sends out freebies every Tuesday – but shopping their pattern helps support them! Their pattern is a no-sew pattern and will be around 3.5″ when finished. You’ll need to know to fasten off, chain, slip stitch, single crochet, increase, decrease, half double crochet, and double crochet.
